We have an announcement to make…

June 14, 2013

Ever since the launch of Saving Content in January of 2011, our vision was to provide unique reviews that gave you a numerical value on the worth of a game. Seeing where your money is going and how far that dollar goes is a much more emotional representation than just a star or number scoring. I think our reviews reflected that, because we’re consumers, too. We have families and full-time jobs that pay the bills and other expenses. We also have to be cautious how we spend it, even on our most exciting hobby: videogames.

As it stands, Saving Content can’t be maintained the way it is. Servers cost money, our Admin is moving on after supporting us this whole time. And it’s an expensive endeavor as the site itself does not make money. In addition, we can’t put enough time into the site as it demands of us. So, we are scaling back the site and going for a more casual approach.

The domain will remain, but our new base of operations will be at Tumblr. We will be stripping away doing news and posting trailers, as it didn’t turn out to be a big draw for us. Written posts will still be made from time to time, but we are shifting our focus more on video content such as walkthroughs, previews, and reviews through our YouTube channel.

While we’ve gotten review copies of Diablo III, Forza Horizon, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, Metro: Last Light, and countless others that are no more or less important than the last. We feel proud of what we’ve accomplished. Whether we can still maintain those relationships with publishers, developers, and PR to continue to bring you day and date reviews remains to be seen.

The last day of what you see before you will be June 30th, 2013. Then, on July 1st, 2013 the site will transition over to Tumblr going forward. I hope that you will stick with us. If not, we understand.

Thank you for all the love over the years,

The Staff at Saving Content: Scott, Ed, Abdul, and Eric
